You’ll recall that I said your marketing skills will be your Unique Competitive Advantage in MLM and will be how you set yourself apart from your competition! And make no mistake, the other distributors in your MLM company are also your competition, especially if you are looking to build an organization or market your products in the same geographic area as they are!
For as much training and education as is provided by most reputable Network Marketing companies today, the lack of training on the ‘Marketing’ side of Network Marketing is noticeable by the high percentage failure rate in MLM…almost 95% of all those who begin in MLM either fail, or simply quit before the magic happens because they lack the marketing skills necessary to succeed in MLM.
Traditional Network Marketing Training
Most MLM companies are big on the ‘Network’ side of training, i.e. making lists, buying leads, handing out DVD’s, CD’s , tapes, magazines etc. to a ‘Warm or Cold Network’ of contacts. But when it comes to the ‘Marketing’ side of things, the high failure rate can be largely attributed to distributors’ lack of ‘Marketing’ experience and training!
The most effective ‘Marketing’ is not the 3-Foot Rule, making a warm market list then calling your friends and family and begging them to come with you to an opportunity meeting or to attend a home-party to watch a video of your business presentation and hope they’ll “see the light” and sign up with you! That kind of marketing will usually end up getting you into the NFL…No Friends Left…Club!
